Twelve institutions from eight countries sign the agreement formalizing the InterRed

The agreement formalizes a network operating since 2023 and brings in the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education.

In June 2026, universities and institutions from Chile, Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Brazil and Costa Rica completed the procedures for the cooperation agreement that formally creates the Inter-American Network for Advanced Training and Research in Higher Education (InterRed). The milestone consolidates joint work begun in late 2023 and driven by the Organización Universitaria Interamericana (OUI), the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research on Higher Education (LIRES) at Université de Montréal and the Instituto Interuniversitario de Investigación Educativa (IESED-Chile), the latter on behalf of the Chilean public universities. In Chile the process has been backed by the Ministry of Education through its Proyectos en Red programme.
