About the Network

The Inter-American Network for Advanced Training and Research in Higher Education brings together twelve institutions from eight countries in the Americas around a shared conviction: that research on higher education improves when it is done among peers, across borders.

How it began

InterRed emerged in 2023 out of the interest of authorities and researchers from several institutions in contributing to advanced training and to the development of research in higher education, drawing on the rich inter-American cultural matrix. What began as a conversation between research centres was formalised with the signing of an agreement between twelve institutions from eight countries, accompanied by the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education.

The project is funded by the National Agency for Research and Development of Chile.

What the Network does

InterRed works as a direct channel of academic and scientific connection between researchers and students at the member institutions. Through its projects, publications, newsletter and activities, the Network seeks to:

• Share good practice between different higher education systems.
• Promote joint research projects between institutions in different countries.
• Circulate calls for scientific meetings and advanced training opportunities.
• Publish articles and technical papers on global and emerging educational issues.
• Open a space for debate through the Letters to the Editors section of the Newsletter.

Why four languages

The Americas do not speak a single language, and a network that means to be genuinely continental cannot ask its members to give up their own. All the content on this site exists in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese, the Network’s four working languages.

Who is part of it

Institutions from Chile, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica, along with a regional body: the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education.
