IESED-Chile researcher awarded an honorary doctorate by Universidad de Los Lagos
Dr Daniel López Stefoni received the distinction for his contribution to scientific output and institutional development.

Dr Daniel López Stefoni, former rector of that university and former director of the Inter-University Institute for Educational Research (IESED-Chile), was awarded an honorary doctorate for his significant contribution to scientific output and institutional development.
On the occasion, he delivered the lecture “Thinking the university”, set within his distinguished career as a senior officer of several Chilean higher education institutions and as a researcher at IESED-Chile and the Interdisciplinary Programme for Research in Education (PIIE).
Dr López Stefoni stressed that the main challenge facing higher education lies in an ethical commitment centred on academic excellence and higher knowledge. He also underlined the urgency for regional institutions to strengthen their engagement with society through active, integrated dialogue with their territories.
