Daniel López Stefoni
Researcher at IESED-Chile and at the Interdisciplinary Programme of Research in Education (PIIE), Chile.
Doctor in Biological Sciences, with international studies in higher education management. He was the first rector of the Universidad de Los Lagos and has served as vice-rector for Research and Graduate Studies and as vice-rector for Planning and Development at three Chilean state universities. He has sat on boards, councils, national commissions, foundations and academic networks in higher education and scientific research, in Chile and abroad.
He is the author of some two hundred publications, between articles in mainstream journals and books, in educational research, mainly on the quality and organisation of universities, and in marine sciences, in ecology and aquaculture. He has led research projects funded by national and international agencies and is a reviewer and member of the editorial committees of scientific and educational journals.
He has been a consultant on organisation, planning and quality for national and international universities, the Ministry of Education, the National Accreditation Commission and Latin American government bodies, as well as an assessor in the accreditation of institutions and doctoral programmes. He has taken part in training university leaders in Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and the Dominican Republic, and has received academic distinctions in Chile, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador.
He was director general of the Inter-University Institute for Educational Research (IESED-Chile), full professor at the Universidad de Los Lagos and researcher in the Education Network of Chile’s state universities.
