Eight systemic factors tested against 228 professors and 21 interviews: academic traditions, internationalisation and funding explain research production in Quebec.

The chapter runs from page 41 to page 67 of «L’université au Québec. Enjeux et défis», the first volume published by Les Publications du LIRES. It analyses the relative influence of eight systemic factors on university research production in Quebec, drawing on a questionnaire answered by 228 professors and on 21 interviews with key actors in the system.

Three factors stand out from the rest: academic traditions, internationalisation and funding mechanisms. It is signed by Olivier Bégin-Caouette and Silvia Mirlene Nakano Koga, both members of InterRed, together with Eya Benhassine, and received the Louise-Dandurand Award from the Fonds de recherche du Québec.
