The project supports the running of InterRed, whose purpose is to raise the quality, visibility and impact of research on Higher Education in the Americas. To that end it drives an internationalisation strategy based on academic and scientific collaboration among its members, aimed at overcoming the barriers that limit the qualitative development of the field. Although educational research in Chile has grown in volume, weaknesses persist in quality, impact and international cooperation, which affect public policy design, teacher education and university management.
The proposal rests on two premises: that the strategic development of higher education requires rigorous knowledge and scientific evidence to ground decisions, and that internationalisation has not yet been fully institutionalised within academic culture, which makes network collaboration essential. InterRed therefore operates both as a strategic action of scientific cooperation and as a space for critical analysis of the challenges of internationalising research.
Its objectives are to articulate research capacities across universities, to promote advanced training through research stays and joint publications, to share strategic resources such as databases, journals and doctoral training spaces, and to consolidate an academic community geared towards producing knowledge useful for decision-making. It is carried out in partnership with IESED-Chile, the Consortium Doctoral Programme in Education and the OUI, with a distinctly inter-American character.
