Olivier Bégin-Caouette joins the College of the Royal Society of Canada

The Université de Montréal researcher and InterRed member has been elected to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada, one of the most prestigious distinctions for research in the country.

InterRed celebrates the election of Olivier Bégin-Caouette to the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada, the national organisation that recognises academic excellence and promotes the arts and sciences in Canadian society. The College brings together emerging researchers who have already shown outstanding leadership in their fields.

Olivier Bégin-Caouette is a professor in the Faculty of Education Sciences at Université de Montréal and holds the Canada Research Chair in Comparative and International Higher Education. He is also co-founder and director of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research on Higher Education (LIRES). His work focuses on the dynamics of competition between higher education institutions and on internationalisation processes.

His election is part of a group of six members of the Université de Montréal community honoured this year by the Royal Society of Canada. The induction ceremony for the 2026 cohort will take place on 13 November in Ottawa.

InterRed extends its warmest congratulations to Olivier on this well-deserved recognition, which also highlights comparative and international research on higher education and collaboration across the Americas.
