Olivier Bégin-Caouette

Associate professor in the Department of Administration and Foundations of Education, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Université de Montréal, Canada. Canada Research Chair in Comparative and International Higher Education (CRC-ESCI).

Researcher in comparative and international higher education, mainly on internationalisation, academic research production and higher education system policy. His work addresses the interactions between university systems and their political, economic, social and cultural contexts, as well as the transformation of technical and vocational teaching institutions. He has led more than a dozen funded projects and has numerous publications in high-impact international journals on university governance, academic mobility, higher education policy evaluation and international research cooperation.

His work has international reach: he is co-founder and director of the Laboratoire interdisciplinaire de recherche sur l’enseignement supérieur (LIRES) and an associate member of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST). He has acted as a consultant to the Université de l’Ontario français on university pedagogy, international strategy and training programmes, and takes part in international academic cooperation networks.

In advanced training, he has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervises master’s and doctoral theses in comparative higher education, contributing to the training of researchers in the field.

He holds a doctorate in Higher Education, specialising in Comparative, International and Development Education, from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto, and a degree in Psychology from the Université de Montréal.
