Vladimir Figueroa Gutiérrez
Director of Research at the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (ISFODOSU), Dominican Republic. Editor-in-chief of the Revista Caribeña de Investigación Educativa (RECIE) and general coordinator of SciELO Dominican Republic.
Researcher in education, mainly on school effectiveness, teacher effectiveness and school leadership. His work looks at the factors that shape learning and academic achievement, especially in vulnerable settings, and at generating evidence for educational improvement. He has published extensively on school leadership, teacher training and educational technology.
His work in scientific publishing and communication has regional reach: as editor-in-chief of RECIE and general coordinator of SciELO Dominican Republic, he drives the quality, visibility and internationalisation of the country’s scientific journals. He is also general coordinator of the Caribbean Congress of Educational Research and takes part in regional academic cooperation networks.
In advanced training, he sits on the Academic Committee of the Doctorate in Educational Sciences at ISFODOSU and contributes to training researchers and strengthening institutional research.
His career combines research with institutional management and scientific capacity building: as Director of Research at ISFODOSU he coordinates the institution’s educational research, teaching innovation and scientific output.
He holds a doctorate in Education and a master’s in Educational Quality and Improvement from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and a degree in Education from the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo.
